March is Gerbera Daisy Month!

Spotlight is on the March Flower of the Month

Gerbera daisies are fun and whimsical flowers that begin their long blooming season in March. With their showy crayon like colors and upright attitude, it's no surprise that they are the fifth most popular flower in the world. All March long , Derita is celebrating all things Gerbera daisy and spreading the love for this cheerful, springtime favorite.

Available year-round with a long vase life, gerbera daisies are a sturdy focal flower perfect for weddings, events, and everyday arrangements. Derita carries 'Gerbs' in mini and standard sizes, as well as the unique Gerbera Poms, Spiders and Pastas (for special order - we like to get these out of Holland!)

Best Care Tips & Tricks

Gerbera daisies are thirsty. Cut the stem at a 45 degree angle for optimum hydration. Most flowers require reconditioning every 2-3 days, but because gerbera daisies are notoriously susceptible to bacteria and dehydration, it’s important to recut the stems and change the water daily to ensure max vase life.

Wow Your Friends with a Bit of Gerbera Knowledge

In the 19th century, daisies were called “day's eye” because at night the petals close over the eye before reopening during the day which sparked the phrase "fresh as a daisy". Fast forward to the present day, and we say, "whoops a daisy", to make light of someone suffering from a mistake or blunder and to encourage a fresh start.
